Brent Heinze, Board President (Executive Director)

Brent Heinze has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California.  He served as co-chair of Colorado’s HIV Prevention Advisory Committee, a member of the CHAPP Advisory Committee, and Executive Steering Committee Member of the Colorado HIV/AIDS Care & Prevention Coalition.  He is a published author of two self-improvement books, “Redefining Normal 1 & 2: A Modern Gay Man’s Guide to Happy and Healthy Living” and was a senior columnist for Out Front Magazine.  He holds a BS in Neuroscience from Colorado College and an MS in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado.

Todd Jones, Board Secretary & Treasurer (Webmaster)

Todd Jones has worked in scientific settings throughout his career and specializes in laboratory information management systems and project management for Thermo Fisher Scientific for the past 25 years.  He has served on multiple charitable boards including Brazos Valley Troupe Youth Theater, Lokusdor Productions, and Delta.  He holds a BS in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University and an MS in Analytical Chemistry from Texas A&M University.

Ben Chavez Gilliam, Board Member (Development)

Ben Chavez Gilliam is managing principal and national market leader for Coldwell Banker Commercial. He oversees the corporate real estate portfolio for Realogy Holdings, Sotheby’s, and 40 other affiliated real-estate brands. He has served on numerous boards and committees in his 35-year career and was instrumental in getting powerlifting back in the Gay Games for 2022, as well as currently serving as President to Team SF.  He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and an MBA in strategic management from Regis University.

Brandon Campbell, Board Member (Legal Advisor)

Brandon Campbell is one of the founding partners of Opfer | Campbell | Beck P.C and is a specialist in estate planning and probate/trust administration as well as business, real estate, and elder law.  He has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association since 2010.  He has offered his experience to a variety of charitable organizations including The Women’s Center, Shiloh House, Project Safeguard, Family Tree, Colorado Ethics Watch, and the National Association of Counsel for Children.  He gained a BA in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a JD from Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver.

Dave Watt, Board Member (Community Engagement)

Dave Watt has worked in the field of HIV for over 18 years with a focus on community sexual health education and status-neutral messaging to address HIV stigma.  He is the founder of Team Friendly, a national anti-stigma campaign, and has hosted hundreds of anti-stigma awareness events.  He is a highly experienced HIV prevention specialist and outreach manager with an extensive history of working within communities.  He is currently working with the Office of Evaluation and Partner Contracts for the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center (SIRC) at Arizona State University in partnership with Arizona Department of Health and Human Services.  He serves as a board member of Queer Center Phoenix and supports the Trans Spectrum of Arizona.  He holds a BS in Secondary Education from Calvin College.

Dr. Justin B. Terry-Smith, Board Member (Community Engagement)

Dr. Justin B. Terry-Smith (DrPH) is an Air Force veteran known for his writing, activism, and public speaking.  He has written for many publications and actively advocates for HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and awareness.  He created the HIV-awareness initiative called, “Write A Letter to HIV Campaign” and has authored the HIV-themed children’s book, “I Have A Secret.”  Justin was a professor at Anne Arundel Community College and is also an award-winning actor and producer.  He holds a BA in Political Science & Government from Ashford University, MS in Public Health (Community Prevention) and an MS in LGBTQ & Military Culture from Walden University, as well as a doctorate in Public Health (Infectious Disease) from Walden University.

Leadership Staff

Brian Heim (Marketing / Graphic Design)

Brian Heim is a graphic design professional and marketing strategist for over 15 years, specializing in innovative design, integrated marketing, and project management.  He has completed projects for a diverse client base including multinational businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions.  He has held positions including art director, senior design coordinator, and web administrator among others.  He holds a BFA from Ball State University and an MBA in Marketing and Business Intelligence from Xavier University.

Stephen Koncelik / Coachella Creative & Heslin Cinematic (Video Production)

Stephen Koncelik has been working in film, TV, and video production for over 25 years, including features and television shows.  He worked as the videographer and editor on the documentary Desert Migration as well as the cinematographer for the film Oscar Wilde About America.  He has created content for the award-winning weekly video podcast The Totally Rad Show and created several shorts for Very Angry Neighbors.  He created Coachella Creative in 2017 to continue his passion for storytelling and video production to support the efforts of non-profit organizations, local businesses, and real estate firms.  He received a BA in Film Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
